Description:
3rd in the Daniel Jacobus series, blind concert master
Mystery Lovers Review:
You don’t have to love Schubert going in to Gerald Elias’s third Daniel Jacobus mystery but by the time you finish reading, you’ll want to listen to the title work, the piece at the center of this work. The New Magini String Quartet is preparing for an important concert that will hopefully save it from collapse. But suddenly, the members are being killed off one by one. In steps the irascible blind, violin pedagogue, Daniel Jacobus and Trotsky, his bulldog, to determine what is causing such evil. Elias’ behind-the-scenes descriptions of the professional classical music scene are fascinating. You can listen to the piece performed by the Abramyan String Quartet on Elias’s website. [MBN]
