Dear %%First Name%%,
On Thursday, May 19 at 7 pm we'll celebrate the publication of Pittsburgh Noir, a collection of Pittsburgh crime stories edited by Kathleen George and filled with stories by the likes of Nancy Martin, K.C. Constantine, Lila Shaara, Stuart O'Nan and Tom Lipinski.
We're expecting at least 10 of the authors to be with us for the party. A signed copy would make a great gift for the holidays or any other occasion.
Please join us for a terrific party with many of the authors who contributed stories.
The nominees for the 2011 Anthony Awards were announced yesterday. We were pleased to see so many good friends with nominated titles including Louise Penny, Laura Lippman, Hank Phillippi Ryan, Tana French and Steve Hamilton.
You can find the complete list of nominees in the categories of Best Novel, Best First, Best Paperback Original and Best Critical/Biographical on our Anthony Award 2011 page.
Wow, what a Festival of Mystery we just had. Record turnout of customers and record number of authors combined for an exciting night of interviews, chit chat, old friends, new friends, pizza and--of course--tons of book buying.
Our thanks to the dozens of volunteers who make it possible plus our splendid staff who work so very hard to make everything at the Festival perfect for readers and authors.
Our new check-out system was an unqualified success with much shorter lines and more repeat customers.
Thanks to everyone who participated and especially to you authors--we couldn't have a Festival without you.
The Agatha Awards were announced last weekend and we're happy to say that we had three of the winners at our Festival of Mystery: Louise Penny, Mary Jane Maffini and Avery Aames.
Find out about all the nominees and winners on our Agatha Awards 2011 page.
Even though we were busy with the Festival last week and Stuart Woods this week, we still had time to create a list of Staff Picks for May. Take a look and see if you can find some interesting reading for the warmer weather.
The Mystery Writers of America announced the winners of the Edgar Award for 2011 at the annual banquet on Thursday night.
You'll find the comlete list of nominees and winners on our Edgar Award 2011 page.
After receiving hundreds of responses to our ebook survey and after many conversations both in person and via email with customers we've concluded that we simply must be in the ebook business.
We anticipate being able to sell you ebooks probably beginning sometime in June.
We have further details of the survey as well as background information on various ebook alternatives on the website.
Our thanks to the many customers who took the time to write to us about ebooks.
New Arrivals continue apace with more May books showing up every week. You'll find plenty of new titles from Sue Ann Jaffarian, Sophie Littlefield, Scott Turow, S.J. Bolton and others.
We've also received a nice dose of New British books. Edward Marston has a new title in the Railway Detective series. Andrew Pepper continue his series with Bow Street Runner Pyke with The Detective Branch. A new series by Lawrence Paul begins with The Sweet Smell of Decay introducing Harry Lytle, 17th century clerk and spy.
