Saturday, July 31 will find Oakmont in the throes of the annual Street Sale. This means that the prospects for you making an enjoyable trip to Oakmont are pretty slim what with the street blocked off, no parking and crowds of people searching for "bargains."
We will have a table of puzzles and such half-off if you do make it in. Our website, however, has free parking and no crowds and we'd love to see you there placing your order for books and more.
We've received our regular order of Star Island by Carl Hiaasen but we're expecting signed copies within about a week. We'll have a limited number of signed copies so order yours now to avoid disappointment.
New Arrivals this week were dominated by British imports. Here are a sampling:
Edinburgh's Bob Skinner makes two appearances with the 18th and 19th books in this enduring series. In Aftershock Skinner and his men chase a ruthless serial killer--perhaps a copycat of an earlier series of murders. Fatal Last Words takes place during the Edinburgh International Book Festival where a best-selling author is found murdered.
Quintin Jardine fans may also remember another series of his featuring private eye Oz Blackstone. You might have thought that the death of the protagonist would end the series but Jardine carries on with Inhuman Remains which features Oz's widow Primavera whose attempts to do her aunt a favor lead to her becoming a fugitive chased across Spain.
The Maze of Cadiz by Aly Monroe introduces British agent Peter Cotton who is sent to Spain in 1944 to arrest a rogue spy. Peter Cotton will return in a new adventure in November set in Washington immediately after the War.
Simon Puttock and Sir Baldwin Furnshill are back to sleuthing in 14th century England in The Oath by Michael Jecks.
