Anne Perry - April 13

If you're looking for a Sunday activity this weekend, you couldn't do better than our special appearance by Anne Perry at the Oakmont Carnegie Library on April 13 at 1 pm.

Anne will be here with the latest of her Victorian-set Thomas and Charlotte Pitt novels, Buckingham Palace Gardens. Anne has been a frequent visitor to MLB over the years and she always delivers a top-notch talk on the historical background of her books which are meticulously researched.

Tickets to the Anne Perry talk and signing are $5. If you're unable to join us, we'll be happy to set-aside a signed book for you. Books can be personally inscribed if you place your order by Saturday, April 12.

Lisa Tucker, Coffee & Crime April 12

If Saturday morning is more your speed for an outing, we'd suggest that you join us tomorrow morning at 10 am for a Coffee & Crime author breakfast with Lisa Tucker. Lisa will be here with her fascinating and complex novel, The Cure for Modern Life. Tickets are $5 and reservations are necessary.

Two Great Events-One Great Ticket

April is going to be a fantastic month for all mystery lovers in Pittsburgh (and beyond).

First off, on Thursday, April 17 we'll be holding our Little Night of Romance (Mystery & Suspense, too) which will bring together over 20 authors for a night of fun.

Secondly, on Monday, April 28 the Thirteenth Annual Festival of Mystery will gather nearly 50 writers and their many fans for the latest incarnation of this splendid event.

Admission for the Little Night of Romance and the Festival of Mystery is $7 in advance, $8 at the door. The best news is that one ticket gets you both events. That's right: buy a ticket for the Little Night of Romance and your ticket will get you into the Festival. Buy a Festival ticket in advance and you can use it for the Little Night of Romance.

Such a deal.

Little Night of Romance (Mystery & Suspense, too)

On Thursday April 17 we'll be gathering at the St. Irenaeus Church Social Hall for a Little Night of Romance (Mystery & Suspense, too) from 5:30 to 8:30. The Romantic Times convention is in Pittsburgh that week bringing with it many writers in a variety of genres. We'll have more than twenty of them at the Little Night for an evening of interviews, chat and signing.

You'll find a complete list of attendees on our Little Night of Romance page and you'll see that we've got folks who write romance, historicals, mystery, suspense and even a couple of vampires. Well, they're not really vampires but they write about them.

All the details on our Little Night of Romance page.

One ticket gets you admission to the Little Night of Romance and the Festival of Mystery.

Festival of Mystery

The event that mystery readers look forward to all year is here. The Thirteenth Annual Festival of Mystery will return on Monday, April 28 from 4 to 9 pm.

We'll be at the Greek Orthodox Church on Washington Ave., same location as last year with a stellar group of nearly 50 authors for an evening of interviews and signing. This year we've got over 20 new authors as well as many favorites from Festival's past.

MLB Best Sellers for March

The month just completed was filled with wonderful author appearances and a number of those generated best sellers for March but plenty of other titles were from MLB favorites or books chosen by book clubs. You'll find the effects of all three in our March Best Seller list.

New arrivals

April books are continuing to arrive with several interesting new arrivals in the past week. New titles by Peter Abrahams, Mary Higgins Clark and daughter Carol, Mark Schweizer and others. On the non-mystery front we've got Cokie Roberts' new book, Ladies of Liberty as well Jane and Michael Stern's new edition of Roadfood not to mention the paperback of Nora Ephron's I Feel Bad About My Neck.
