We have back-to-back author events coming up on February 11 and 12 and both are book club dinner events. The first with Jenny White and the second with Eliot Pattision.
What in the world is a Book Club Dinner? we hear you asking. As you may know we have six book clubs that meet in our store every month. Every so often, we're able to schedule an author to meet with the book club and we make these events open to anyone who wishes to come whether they are a regular member of the book club or not.
We provide a catered dinner and you get to have a delicious meal along with a discussion with an author in a relaxed setting.
Monday, Feb. 11 - Jenny White will join us with her second historical mystery set in 19th century Istanbul, The Abyssianian Proof. Jenny is a historian with a specialty in the role of women in Turkish history and her talk is sure to be fascinating. We're providing a Turkish meal catered by the Istanbul Grill that will feature a variety of appetizers as well as kabobs, rice and salad.
Tuesday, Feb. 12 - Eliot Pattison will be here with Bone Rattler, an intriguing mystery set in Colonial American during the French and Indian War. Dinner will be catered by Girasole Restaurant, one of the best Italian restaurants in the area and we'll have antipasto, pasta and salad.
Sara Paretsky has a new novel out, Bleeding Kansas, and we've got a limited number of signed copies. Although her new book is not in the V.I. Warshawski series, it's not even a mystery but rather a straight novel, fans will certainly enjoy this compelling tale of two Kansas families. Set in the area of Paretsky's own birth, it reflects the history of Kansas in it's central characters: two families who have been there since the 1850's when Bloody Kansas referred to the slavery vs. anti-slavery battles of the era. The novel, however, is quite contemporary as current events batter the descendants of these pioneers and force them to face truths they would rather avoid.
Please order signed copies early as we have only a limited number.
Our Winter Coffee & Crime Series continues on February 16 with four diverse and talented authors appearing in this long-running Saturday morning author breakfast series. Here's what's coming up:
