New arrivals

Just a handful of new arrivals this week as January books won't start to roll in until sometime next week. You'll find the complete list at New Arrivals.

Among the new arrivals I do want to mention a great favorite of mine, Sacred Games by Vikram Chandra. This is a huge, sprawling novel that, despite its length, I was saddened to reach the end. This is an immersive experience in Indian culture that follows the life story of a policeman and a gangster and the chain of events that brings them together.

Among the British titles received are new editions of two Margery Allingham classics: Hide My Eyes and The China Governess. These are both late in the Albert Campion series but nonetheless delightful. If you're not familiar with Allingham, one of the finest writers of the Golden Age, then by all means start with Crime at Black Dudley. One of the delights of this series is that is stretches from 1928 all the way to 1963 and provides a glimpse of English life over the whole historical period.

Signed T is for Trespass

Sue Grafton's latest, T is for Trespass, is just out and we've got a supply of signed copies. This would make a great gift for any Grafton fan, including yourself. We've only got a limited supply, so please don't delay in placing your order.
