October-November MLB News

The October-November issue of the MLB News will go in the mail today but you can download your own copy (as a PDF file) directly from the website.

What's new in the store?

It's been awhile since the last email newsletter (vacation in California was great, thanks for asking) so we've got tons of new titles for October.

You'll find a newly revised edition of Mary Kay Andrews' Blue Christmas, cozy titles by Laura Childs, Linda O. Johnston and others; new noir from Carol O'Connell and Michael Wiley and tons of others books in every genre.

Check the New Arrivals page for all that's fresh.

Part of the Colbert Nation?

If you're a fan of Stephen Colbert, or know someone who is, you'll want to get his book: I Am America and So Can You. Packed with information, almost all of it wrong, this is the indispensable guide to modern American life, religion, politics and science. It even includes a special Holiday CD. (Actually, he lied about the CD).

Last of John Rebus?

We've got a limited number of copies of the latest Ian Rankin, featuring John Rebus, Exit Music. As the title implies, Rebus is preparing for retirement, tying up some loose ends, when a murder intervenes in his plans.

As this book is a British import, quantities are limited. Please order now to avoid disappointment.

What we're reading

We've updated the Staff Picks with the latest reads for October where you'll find several choices that you might enjoy.

What our customers are reading

The September Best Sellers for MLB have been compiled and posted. You can see that book clubs, author events and popular authors all play a role in this eclectic assortment of books.

Who's getting awarded

The winners of the Shamus and Anthony Awards for 2007 have been announced.

The Shamus Awards are given by the Private Eye Writers of America. Nominees in each category are picked by a committe of PWA members who then vote on the winners. The awards were given at the just completed Bouchercon convention.

The Anthony Awards are given by the Bouchercon Convention, a fan convention held annually. Registered convention goers nominate and vote on the awards.
