And the winners are...

Malice Domestic has announced the winners of the 2007 Agatha Awards and you'll find the details on our site. This year's Agatha winner's give us particular pleasure. The Best Novel award went to Nancy Pickard for The Virgin of Small Plains and well-deserved it was as this fine novel is among the best we've read. The paperback is due out May 29.

It was also a delight to have the Best First Novel award go to Sandra Parshall for The Heat of the Moon as Sandra was our guest last Monday at the Festival of Mystery. Sadly, however, Sandra's win meant that another Festival author, Jane Cleland, did not win for her fine debut, Consiged to Death.

Festival of Mystery

The 12 Annual Festival of Mystery was last Monday evening and it was a smashing success. We had 51 authors, 300 plus customers and a whale of a good time. Sales were up about 16% over last year and the whole evening ran like clockwork. Beginning with Books, the beneficiary of our raffle, took in $300 raffling off baskets donated by generous authors.

This Just In

New books by James Patterson, John Sandford, Elmore Leonard, C.J. Box and others lead off the New Arrivals for this week.

You'll find the complete list of what's new in our New Arrivals pages.

Among the new arrivals is Elaine Viets' new book, Murder with Reservations. Our offer for folks to buy Elaine's new book and have it sent to a library is still open. If you generously support Elaine in this way we'll pay the shipping cost for sending the book to the library. Full details on the Elaine Viets Special Offer page.
