Jo Nesbo - Thursday, March 18, 2010
Talk and Signing, starting at 7 pm
Jo Nesbo, a rising star in Norwegian mystery writing circles, will be at MLB on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 7 pm for a talk and signing of his new crime novel The Devil's Star.
Nesbo began his writing career with the first of the Harry Hole novels, The Bat Man, which is sadly not available in English translation. He came to the attention of US readers with publication of The Redbreast, a crime novel that introduced us to Oslo, Norway police inspector Harry Hole. The Redbreast is notable in tackling the issue of Norway's role in WW II including the collaboration between Norway's government and the Nazis as well as those Norwegians who fought for Germany in the Eastern Front. The shameful reverbations of this history set the scene for the criminal acts that Harry will investigate in the present.
In Dark Star, Harry is at a low ebb with his personal life in ruins but a series of killings take him out of the doldrums as he sharpens his wits to battle a ruthless criminal.
