A Victorian Lady, starting at 7 pm

Cordelia Biddle, known to MLB readers as half of the Nero Blanc team that writes those crossword puzzle mysteries, will come to MLB on Friday, February 16 at 7 pm for a unique Victorian Striptease as part of a talk and signing of her new historical mystery, The Conjurer .

An unusual setting in the Philadelphia of 1842 is the background for this tale of Martha Beale, a wealthy heiress who investigates the mysterious disappearance of her father. Meanwhile, a serial killer is preying on young girls while a traveling conjurer and clairvoyant is entertaining the upper classes. All these threads combine in this carefully researched and entertaining historical mystery.

Cordelia has done extensive research for the series and will present a program complete with Victorian costume in which she'll discuss the circumstances of woman in the Victorian era and their role in society.
