2006 Edgar Award Winners and Nominees

Mystery Award Nominees and Winners

Many different awards are given each year for mysteries in various categories. Summarized here are

The Agatha Award

The Agatha Award, named for Agatha Christie, is given each year at the Malice Domestic convention in late April. Award winners are selected by vote of those attending the convention.

The Anthony Award

The Anthony Award, named for long-time mystery critic at the New York Times, Anthony Boucher, is given each year at the Bouchercon convention in October. Winners are selected by vote of those attending the convention.

The Edgar Award

The Edgar Award, named in honor of Edgar Allan Poe, is presented by the Mystery Writers of America in a variety of categories. A committee of MWA members is formed for each award category and they choose the nominees and winners which are presented in the latter part of April.

The Shamus Award

The Shamus Award is given by the Private Eye Writers of America in a variety of categories. Each categories nominees and winners are chosen by a committee for that category composed of members of the PWA.

The Dilys Award

The Dilys Award, named for pioneering mystery bookseller Dilys Winn who founded Murder Ink, the first specialty mystery book store, is awarded annually by the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association to the book which the membership most enjoyed selling.
